In 2004, I journeyed from my native Belgium to the Burning Man event in Black Rock City, Nevada.

With me, I had my son and the portraits of 100 Brussels inhabitants on sticks.

On our way from San Francisco to the desert, we occasionally stopped the car, arranged the disembodied heads pleasingly in the Nevada landscape, recorded the result, then packed the heads away again.

When we got to Black Rock City, moved by the spirit of the gift economy, we gave the faces to the residents and I guess they are now scattered all over the world.
That’s what I call a faceshift.
